Snow Leopard has arrived

Despite my early-adopter urges, I tend to force myself to hold off on new Apple operating systems for a little while. Today was the day for me to upgrade, though. Several things, actually. First I upgraded OS X from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I'm happy to report that it's pretty peppy so far. I've also got most of my apps working. I only ran into a few challenges.

1. Quicksilver. I pulled down 10.6 compatible version of Quicksilver but still had to blow away plugins and preferences before it worked.

2. Reader Notifier. It's an unofficial project similar to Google Notifier, but for Google Reader. The fact is that with as many feeds as I have, the number of unread items is always high. But, much like Google Notifier for gMail, Reader Notifier can make Google Reader your default RSS reader. Very handy. Anyhow, I had to use a custom-compiled version to make it work. The source itself is just fine, but it needed to be recompiled.

3. TiVo Desktop. It's not compatible with Snow Leopard yet. Bummer.

4. Terminal Colours. It's an Input Manager that runs via SIMBL and helps change how some colors are interpreted in Terminal.app. SIMBL is saying they've updated to work with 64-bit apps, so now we're just waiting on a Terminal Colours update.
